Privacy policy: onischool NEIS Connector
This policy covers the Chrome extension "onischool · 나이스 연결" (the extension) and the local connection between the extension and the OniClass and OniRecord apps on the same PC. The apps' own accounts, storage and cloud features are described on the OniClass and OniRecord pages.
What the extension handles
Only when a teacher starts a job in one of the apps, and only on the teacher NEIS sites of the 17 provincial education offices (<code>.neis.go.kr):
- Attendance jobs (OniClass): student number and name, grade and class, date and periods, attendance type and category, the reason text, the values already on the NEIS screen, and the result of each entry. Reasons such as illness can include health information.
- Student-record jobs (OniRecord): student class, number and name; school year, grade, class, semester and subject; existing record text on the screen; and the narrative text the teacher asked to enter.
The extension uses this data only to match students, enter and save what the teacher requested, and report the outcome back to the app. It does not read or collect NEIS passwords, certificates, certificate passwords, authentication cookies or browsing history.
Where the data goes
- Job data and results move between the NEIS tab and the requesting app's connector program on the same PC, through Chrome Native Messaging. Attendance uses
kr.classdesk.neis; student records usekr.yangyang.neis. - Saving in NEIS sends the entered values to the NEIS service through the teacher's own logged-in page, exactly as if the teacher had typed them.
- The extension itself sends nothing to Oni School servers, analytics, advertising or any other third party. It loads no remote code.
Storage and deletion
- The extension keeps job data in memory only while a job runs. In the browser it stores only the chosen NEIS region, so that "open NEIS" opens the right site.
- The OniClass connector keeps job requests and results on the PC in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\kr.classdesk.app\neis-transfer.db. Request and result contents are encrypted with Windows DPAPI for the signed-in Windows user. There is currently no automatic expiry, and removing the extension or app does not delete this file. To delete it, close OniClass and Chrome, then delete that file together with any-waland-shmfiles beside it. - Student-record jobs are kept by the OniRecord app on the same PC, as described on the OniRecord page.
- Deleting local files does not remove anything already saved in NEIS.
Use limits
Data handled by the extension is not sold, not used for advertising, credit or lending decisions, and not used for any purpose other than the single purpose above. The use of information received from Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Security
Keeping data on the teacher's PC reduces exposure but cannot rule it out: other people with access to the PC, malware, or backups and sync tools can expose local files.
Changes and contact
If the data handled or the way it moves changes, this policy and the extension's store listing will be updated together. Questions and deletion requests: [email protected].
